One timid but honorable and kind person passively communicates through inflection and body language while another person, being more inwardly focussed, ignores everything beneath and between the words. The disconnect starts a crack, becomes a rent then one day they, both on separate paths, pass that point where the future has nothing in common with the past.
lyrics
Do You Feel
Do you feel the message I'm conveying?
Must I say it aloud?
Are you that proud?
Pay attention to the way that I’m responding
When you’re asking me
Do you catch the subtlety?
Please pay no mind
To the words that you heard
They’re just words that I’m speaking
To be kind
But listen
To the way I inflect
What I say
And the aim of my phrasing
Should be plain
Oh yeah
Do you feel a thing, much less my pain?
Every time you come around
My poor heart, it starts to pound
If I had the strength to stare you down
And say what I feel
This is what I might reveal
One broken heart
And a love pulled apart
Love that would
Be a good place
To start
How blind can you be
Don't you realize
Nothing's free
Somebody pays
Love and lately
It’s been me
